Awards guests enjoy rhythm ‘n’ Blus

The SELECT Awards 2017 certainly hit the right note with Members, nominees and guests as the Radisson Blu dancefloor was filled with whirling kilts, the highest of high heels and plenty of electrifying dance moves.

After being expertly compered by respected journalist Keith Aitken – who found time between awards to issue a rallying cry about retentions – and some chocolate fireworks courtesy of app experts Magic Xperience, it was on to the night’s entertainment.

Tribute act Rob Stewert got the first brave souls up and dancing as he belted through a string of classics including Maggie May, Do Ya Think I’m Sexy? and the popular arms-aloft anthem I Am Sailing.

With guests warmed up, talented trio Franco keep the party going with two hours of timeless tunes from the ’60s to the present day. At one point, the dancefloor even heaved with Dashing White Sergeants as the band launched into an energetic ceilidh that set sporrans spinning.

Official proceedings finished at 1am, but Members and guests packed the hotel bar into the wee small hours – comparing awards and making the most of the chance to mingle.
