Department is going digital

To help reduce the amount of paper being handed out on selected courses, the Training department will now be providing delegates with memory sticks instead of printed materials.

From January onwards, all participants on our Requirements for Electrical Installation courses, No 218, will be given sticks containing useful training information and guides.

The first sticks were given to delegates on our 18th Edition training courses, and were packed with helpful information from both SELECT and the British Electrical and Allied Manufacturers Association (BEAMA). This digital information included:

  • SELECT guide to 18th Edition changes

  • SELECT guide to BS 7671:2018 certificates

  • SELECT guide to electrical safety checks in the private rental sector

  • SELECT advice on installation of cables concealed in structures

  • SELECT advice on electrical installations in locations containing a bath or shower

  • BEAMA guide to surge protection devices

  • BEAMA guide to arc fault detection devices

  • BEAMA safety checklist

  • BEAMA RCD handbook

  • BEAMA technical bulletin: RCD selection.

SELECT Training Coordinator Jenny Cryans said: “Looking at the first quarter of this year, we’re running 49 wiring regulation courses for around 588 delegates. If each one was given 10 printed leaflets or brochures, it would add up to a lot of paper.

“So going forward, we’re putting all the course information on memory sticks instead. We’re starting with the wiring regulations course, and eventually aim to roll it out across the majority of our courses as we update out materials.”
