Summer Carnival's a festival of family fun

From face painting and pinatas to hook-a-duck, hot dogs and home baking, The Walled Garden was alive with activity at our annual fundraising event

Summer showers couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of Members, staff and their families as they flocked to SELECT HQ for our annual carnival.

The Walled Garden was filled with fun and games as youngsters, parents and grandparents enjoyed a day of entertainment to help raise funds for the Electrical Industries Charity (EIC).

President Alistair Grant, Vice President Mike Stark and Chair of the Glasgow and West of Scotland Branch David Harris were among the Members who enjoyed our fun day on Saturday 12 August.

And although the typical Scottish weather meant some outside activities were put on hold, there was still plenty of inside entertainment for partygoers throughout the afternoon.

STARZ Entertainment kept the kids amused, plus the tombola and raffle both did a roaring trade, with prizes on offer including hairdressing vouchers, tickets to the Camera Obscura in Edinburgh and lifetime membership of Top Golf Glasgow.

The day – which raised more than £750 for the EIC – was organised by Training Administrator Laurie Burns, Employment & Skills Administrators Alice McCaskey and Sam Moore, Events, Marketing and Communications Co-ordinator Linda Rolfe and Specifier & Client Relations Manager Yvonne Wilson.

Laurie said: “It was brilliant to see The Walled Garden full of people enjoying themselves and we would like to thank everyone who came along and supported a fantastic day. Every penny raised will go to the EIC to help electricians and their families in need.”
